ACT Webinar 20.05.21

On 20th May 2021, we held our inaugaral ACT Webinar during which we announced the launch of two new Sustainable Tourism Toolkits (on Carbon Emissions and Sustainability in the Office).
We welcomed experts from inside and outside the Travel Industry to discuss the Climate Crisis, and how best to mitigate Travel’s affects to it.
The morning started with an introduction from ACT Chair, Jono Vernon-Powell:
This was followed by the expertise of David Hone (Chief Climate Change Adviser at Shell) and Lars Andersen Resare (Head of Sustainability at Scandinavian Airlines) who shared their opinions of the timelines that need to be put in place to combat the crisis and what we can do as an industry to help achieve them:
Prue Stone, the AITO ST Chair, then introduced Hugo Kimber of Carbon Responsible, Charlie Cotton of eCollective and Samuel Welsh of ClimateCare who informed us of how to understand the changes that need to be made to make your business more sustainable:
The President of Turismo de Portugal, Luis Araujo, was our next guest who shared with us how Portugal is addressing, and plans to address, the Climate Crisis:
Finally, we heard from some members of ACT – Dr Jacqueline Holland of Northumbria University, Clive Stacey of Discover the World, Michael Hughes of Wild Dog Design and AITO Chairman Chris Rowles – on how we plan to “Walk the Walk” when tackling the Climate Crisis:
